Mainstage Productions has provided video engineering support for ABBA Voyage, working with Solotech UK as part of the production’s Video 2 team.

ABBA Voyage is anything but a conventional resident show. It combines live performance with a huge video and technical production, all built around a purpose-designed venue in London.

Working within Video 2, Mainstage supports the day-to-day operation of the video department, helping prepare, run and maintain the systems behind the show and responding to technical issues as part of the wider production team.

The long-running nature of the production also makes it very different from touring. Rather than building the system in a different venue every day, the focus shifts towards consistency, maintenance and keeping a complex permanent production performing at the same standard show after show.

ABBA Voyage is particularly relevant to Mainstage because it sits between our two worlds: live production and permanent installation. It is an impressive example of what can happen when entertainment technology, infrastructure and live production are designed and operated as one complete system.
